Safety Measures to Take When Driving in Windy Conditions

Last updated 5 years ago

Learning to drive in various weather conditions is essential to becoming a good driver, especially in places such as Chicago where a wide range of weather conditions are often seen. With Spring coming, heavy winds are high on the list for expected weather conditions around Chicagoland. Preparing teen drivers for adverse weather conditions starts at driving school, but lack of experience can still lead to problems for teens whenever they actually need to drive in bad weather.

In the following video, the Illinois Department of Transportation offers a few tips for dealing with heavy winds while driving. It may not appear to be much of an issue to new teen drivers, but if you are driving on a highway and are unprepared for heavy winds, it’s very easy to lose control of a vehicle. Add in the possibility of rain to the wind equation and for a relatively inexperienced driver, the results could be extremely detrimental.
